The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) was established in 2000 as an independent and autonomous statutory body under the Human Rights Commission Act, 1997. The Interim Constitution of Nepal 2007 upgraded the NHRC as the constitutional body.
To support the NHRC to develop technical and managerial capacities for the execution of its responsibilities, the multi-donor project 'Capacity Development of the National Human Rights Commission' was initiated in 2002 and phased out in 2008. In order to continue the support for the NHRC, a second project namely "Strengthening the Capacity of the National Human Rights Commission (SC-NHRC)" was signed jointly with OHCHR in 2009. The project is managed under the National Execution Modality (NEX) and will run until 31 December 2012. A small project headed by a National Project Manager is located at the NHRC premises.
Currently the SC-NHRC project has following vacancy.
