Senior Administrative Assistant Vacancy - UNDP Nepal

Following the success of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election in 2008, UNDP Nepal launched on Electoral Support Project (ESP) in August 2008 to provide technical assistance to the Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) for the inter-elections period (2008-2016). The ESP support aims at building sustainable and enduring institutional and professional capacity of the ECN, of its Secretariat and its district offices that could be easily and effectively deployed in future elections. The ESP (2008-2016) consists of two phases. Phase I (2008-2012) focused exclusively on long-term electoral capacity building. Phase II (2012-2016) focuses on capacity building of the ECN officials and operational support for future electoral cycles.

Job Vacancy - Ecosystem Based Adaptation Project for Mountain Ecosystems in Nepal (EBA)


The Ecosystem Based Adaptation (EBA) Project for Mountain Ecosystems in Nepal, Peru and Uganda aims to strengthen the capacity of these three highly vulnerable countries to deal with the impacts of climate change. The project targets to strengthen ecosystem resilience and reduce the vulnerability of local communities with a particular emphasis on mountain regions.

The project will create new opportunities for experimental learning between regions and among countries through parallel and cooperative development and application of methodologies and tools and the implementation of pilot projects. It will shorten the learning curve of local and national institutions and fast-track the transfer of knowledge related to building ecosystem resilience.

The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and is being jointly implemented by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). UNDP developed and launched a five years Conflict Prevention Programme (CPP). The CPP has two pillars, Collabora-tive Leadership and Dialogue (CID) and the Conflict Sensitivity (CS) Program. With the continuation of low intensity armed violence in the Southern plains and the Eastern hills, which might be detrimental to the peace and development gains made by Nepal, the CPP envisions a program focusing on Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) and community security to build upon existing conflict prevention and peacebuilding work.

Career Opportunity - National Rural and Renewable Energy Programme (NRREP)

The Government of Nepal (GoN) and a number of External Development Partners mainly Governments of Denmark, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom the World Bank. ADB, USAID, UNDP, and European Commission have for many years supported the rural and renewable energy sector in Nepal. In 1996, the GoN established the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) with the purpose of developing and promoting renewable energy technologies in Nepal. Since then, the AEPC has been able to establish itself as a national local point for coordinating renewable energy related activities in Nepal and has been actively promoting the use of these technologies through implementation of a number of programmes and projects to meet the rural energy needs.
