Senior Administrative Assistant Vacancy - UNDP Nepal


UNDP Nepal works in the areas of transitional governance, pro-poor policies and sustainable livelihoods, peace building and recovery, energy, environment and natural disaster management along with gender and HIV as cross cutting issues with its annual Programme of US$ 40 million. It was established in Nepal in 1963 and works closely with the Government and development partners, thousands of community and civil society groups in all 75 districts of Nepal. In all its activities, UNDP encourages social inclusion, protection of human rights and empowerment of women.

Following the success of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election in 2008, UNDP Nepal launched on Electoral Support Project (ESP) in August 2008 to provide technical assistance to the Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) for the inter-elections period (2008-2016). The ESP support aims at building sustainable and enduring institutional and professional capacity of the ECN, of its Secretariat and its district offices that could be easily and effectively deployed in future elections. The ESP (2008-2016) consists of two phases. Phase I (2008-2012) focused exclusively on long-term electoral capacity building. Phase II (2012-2016) focuses on capacity building of the ECN officials and operational support for future electoral cycles.

Under overall guidance and direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Senior Administration Assistant will be responsible for administration and finance functions for the implementation of the Programme: Maintain consultant's reports and archive project related documents. Coordinate communications between the supervisor and other professional and administrative staff both within and outside the work unit . Prepare agendas for the meeting; take minutes at meetings and compose drafts of the proceedings. Undertake administrative work and provide logistic support for smooth implementation of project.

Required qualifications and skills: Bachelors degree in any field. At least 5 years of experience in administration. Must have excellent skills in computers (Windows, Word, Excel, Power point). Must have good command of English and Nepali language both written and spoken. Ability to work independently as well as in a team in a multi-cultural environment.
