Assistant Job Vacancy in a leading Commercial Bank

One of the leading Commercial Banks requires qualified candidate for the post of “Desktop Support Assistant”. Details for the same have been highlighted below.

Essential Job Function:
Primary Functions
- To provide technical support for all desktop related business products. Accountable for the implementation and ongoing verification of Security patch’s (OS and Virus) within bank’s locations.
- To manage Desktop Support Engineers team resources who are responsible for the ongoing support of the bank’s businesses to ensure a secure, stable and highly resilient environment.
-  To manage Desktop Support Engineers resources who are responsible for the ongoing support and services of the Banks data centre operation ensuring a secure, stable and highly resilient environment without any error in operation & processing
-  To assist in new implementations or upgrades to existing systems, including project management, tracking and reporting
- To assist in the provision of business recovery sites to give the ability to conduct business transactions and monitor exposure in the event of a disaster.
- Responsible for the enforcement of global strategies and standards in all bank’s locations including ensuring risk / compliance and security / build standards are followed
- Risk management control, KCS assistance, SIP initiatives and reporting, including Technical audit compliance indirectly complying bank’s approved process.
- Problem & RMS management – outstanding incident management, call logging; call reporting including high severity problem control. All remedy related initiatives and updates. Ensuring standards are adhered to, or dispensations raised
- Work closely with ITSC, CTM and CSS to provide technical support to local users and local systems
- Security vulnerability management – MA patches, SVT outstanding issues, standard build usage
- Protectors of the local environment, including responsibility to ensure safe and tidy IT installations and cabling, local regulatory compliance, health and safety adherence etc

Secondary Functions
- Confirm backup of existing systems.
- Regular monitoring of various systems.
- Ensure that the physical/logical security of the Data Centre is maintained.
- Ensure climatic control, operating environment, cleanliness and tidiness of the Data Centre.
- Ensure that the backup of all the databases is taken and kept off-site as per the Group Standard Policy.
- SOD/EOD report consolidation & update in Server Farm
- Submit Today’s status report
- Check & confirm DCR utility report of the month
- Upload desktop/laptop deployment checklist to Share Point site.
- Provide 1st line support for all public holiday excluding Saturday.

Essential Job Specification:
- BCA/BIT/BIM or IT relevant degree
- Strong PC / Server applications skills
- In depth knowledge of client server technologies
- Strong understanding of telecommunications
- Strong will to achieve business objectives
- Project Management skills
- Microsoft Windows Technical skills
- Business knowledge and understanding
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Service Management skills and techniques
- Ability to work effectively as part of global team
- Very good communications skills
- Completing tasks within deadlines
- Man management of external (vendor) resources
- Ability to train operational staff in new procedures
- Strong troubleshooting/problem assessment skills
- Must be able to prioritise tasks
- Must be flexible in terms of tasks
- Banking experience
