Job Vacancy in Lumanti Support Group for Shelter

Lumanti Support Group for Shelter is a non-government organisation dedicated to the alleviation of urban poverty in Nepal through the improvement of shelter conditions. At Lumanti, shelter means the whole living environment, therefore, Lumanti's activities are wide-ranging. They include shelter upgrades, micro-finance, education and children's programmes, good governance, gender equity and advocacy.

Position: Project Coordinator (WASH)
Job Location: Kapilvastu and Ramgram (Nawalparasi)
Reporting to: Programme Manager - WASH
Job Purpose: To coordinate and support WASH programme in urban poor communities for improvement of water, sanitation and hygiene facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and manage water, sanitation and hygiene programme/projects implemented by Lumanti.
- Conduct technical and sociological assessment and prepare technical and financial proposals and Project Plans (PPs) for water, sanitation, environmental sanitation, hygiene education.
- Ensure smooth financial system and account is up dated.
- Ensure well maintenance of procurement and storage of materials.
- Liaise with funding partners, local governments, NGOs and the communities to promote planning and coordination for the successful implementation of the WASHprogramme.
- Ensure timely reporting of activities to the Coordinator/Programme Managerand to the concerned partners.
- Ensure effective integration and mainstreaming of gender, equity and the principle of 'inclusiveness' in the programme.
- Ensure that designs, drawings, and cost estimates are prepared, checked and approved by the management before expenses are incurred on construction of WASH infrastructure.
- Certify progress measured in terms of outputs and/or objectively verifiable indicators for each PPsthat has construction component prior to making recommendation for payment or settlement of accounts.
- Guide, groom, and mentor subordinate team members in their respective work and responsibilities.
Ensure quality of work make field visits as necessary.
- Contribute to the preparation of learning documents, case studies and comparative study documents for knowledge management and publication.
- Represent Lumanti at the committees, meetings as necessary.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, six monthly and yearly progress reports.

REQUIRED KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor degree in Science/Engineering / Sociology or relevant field
- At least 3 years of professional working experience in development sector
- Experience in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene work
- Innovative ideas and knowledge for proposals writings
- Technical knowledge and skill
- Ability to work under pressure and ready to work long hours if required
- Experience in staff capacity building and sensitive in areas of Gender and Social inclusion.
- Good English and Nepali writing skill.
- Good knowledge of computer application such as word, excel and power point.
