The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an independent humanitarian organization whose mandate is to provide protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and internal disturbances has a vacancy in Kathmandu, Nepal for:
Job Position: Civil or Construction Engineer
Description of tasks Retrofitting two prisons in Kathmandu Valley, in agreement with the Prison Management Department and the Housing Department standards.
This will imply:
• assessment,
• project proposals,
• establishment of detailed designs (bill of quantities, drawings, etc.)
• contract management,
• site supervision,
• contact with interlocutors if authorities and contribution to written reporting
Minimum required knowledge & experience:
• University degree (Construction Engineering, Civil Engineer or similar)
• 2 to 4 years work experience in construction sites supervision and/or construction contract management
• Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
• Good computer skills including spread sheets and CAD software,
• Capacity to work independently
Personal Qualities: The successful applicants should be self-starters with a sense of responsibility, organizational skills and ability to take initiative. Ability to deal with diverse group of people, ability to cope with stressful situations, interpersonal & communication skills, patience, perseverance, team spirit, adaptability and self-confidence.
