The Micronutrient Initiative (MI)

The Micronutrient Initiative (MI) is an international not-for-profit organization that works to ensure the world's most vulnerable- especially women and children- in developing countries get the vitamins and minerals they need to survive and thrive. MI Nepal invites applications from qualified Nepali citizens for the following position: 

Title : Field Officer - 1 .
Location : Hetauda 
Term : 11 months on contract basis (renewable subject to availability of funds and performance)

Major Responsibilities: 
• Proactively support the implementation of the MI supported projects and programs as per approved plans
• Visit program districts to monitor micronutrient program activities at district and field levels (including home visits) and maintain a monitoring database. 
• During field visits, provide technical support in resolving the constraints and barriers with respect to micronutrient programming. 
• Monitor and support facilitation of the district and community level orientation/training/workshops supported by MI. 
• Participate in the various review meetings (such as FCHV review) at the district and health facility level; provide solutions and suggestions on the basis of gaps identified and follow up on execution. 
• Prepare the progress and other reports as required. 

Requirements: 
• Bachelor's degree in public health or nursing with at least two years working experience in the field of heath/nutrition. Candidates having AHW, HA or Staff Nurse background will be preferred; 
• Experience of working with the health system of government of Nepal and/or with Development agencies; 
• Familiar with the monitoring and supervision systems and tools of health system of Nepal; 
• Proven ability to work at regional and field implementation levels; • Good coordination and communication skills in both English and Nepali languages (spoken and written), knowledge in other languages of Nepal will be an advantage; 
• Broad knowledge of nutrition, micronutrients and related interventions (especially relating to micronutrient supplementation); 
• Cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills; 
• Proficiency in word processing, spread sheets, presentations and internet; 
• Flexibility to adapt to field environment during travel;
