Job Vacancy - Practical Action (An INGO)


Practical Action is an International NGO, working in South Asia, Southern and Eastern Africa and Latin America with its Head Office in the UK. It aims to reduce poverty in developing countries - by introducing appropriate technologies for the communities, demonstrating results, sharing knowledge, building capacity to replicate and influencing others for scaling up.


Practical Action seeks to recruit a Communications Associate (Consultant) for its Practical Answers Services (Technical Information Service of Practical Action) to be based in the Country Office,Kathmandu in Nepal. 

Practical Action Services aim to provide a resource on small-scale technologies or intermediate technologies and allow people to access the wealth of technical information within Practical Action as well as bringing together the knowledge of others. In Nepal,Practical Answers has been working in Kailali, Banke, Nawalparsi and Chitwan in partnership with READ Nepal and we are planning to expand our services gradually in the other districts. The duration of the contract will be for six months initially with possibility of extension.

The Communications Associate will support overall for the effective implementation of Practical Answers Services in updating data, responses and monitors enquiries, update related web-portal, preparing reports and knowledge products, news and stories of change, conduct meetings, workshops, minute taking, support local knowledge nodes and coordinate with READ Nepal.

REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate should have a Bachelors Degree in any discipline.
At least two years of experience in data management, report writing and knowledge materials production. 
Fluency in both Nepali and English is a must and translation skill from Nepali to English and English to Nepali is required. 
Skill in graphics designing will be an added advantage.
Nepalese citizens fulfilling the requirement should submit a cover letter, their curriculum vitae including a recent passport size photograph, list of three professional references and a cover letter by 15 May 2013 via email or by post to the following stating ‘Communications Associate - Consultant’ as the subject.
