Vacancy Announcement - Nepal Climate Change Support Programme (NCCSP)

The Nepal Climate Change Support Programme (NCCSP) was designed with an aim to ensure that the poorest and most vulnerable communities in Nepal are able to adapt to the effects of climate change. This is the first significant climate change adaptation Intervention In Nepal in line with the recommendation of the National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA).

The Ministry of Science, Technology arid Environment (MoSTE) is leading the implementation of the programme in collaboration with Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) and other stakeholders with the support from UK-AID DFID, European Union and UNDP. The Programme will be implemented in 14 districts of Mid and Far-Western Districts of Nepal, namely, Bajura, Achham, Kaliall, Humla, Jumia, Mugu, Dolpa, Kalikot, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Bardiya, Dang, Rukurn and Rolpa from 2013 -2015.

Therefore, applications are invited from the interested and qualified citizens of Nepal for the following positions:

1. Sr. Climate Change Expert
No. of position: One
Duty Station: Programme Central Office at MoEST, Kathmandu. Also provide technical supports to Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development. Approximately 10-20% time for field visits to Programme Districts

2. Deputy Project Manager
No. of position: One
Duty Station: Programme Central Office, at the Ministry of Environment. Science and Technology, Kathmandu with approximately 30% time for field visits to Programme Districts

3. Gender Specialist
No. of position: One
Duty Station: Programme Regional Technical Office in Dang with 70 % time traveling to programme districts. Quarterly visit and meeting (for 5 working days each time) at the Programme Central Office at MoEST.

 4. Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist
No. of position: One
Duty Station: Programme Central Officer within the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment with approximately 40% time for field visits to Programme Districts.


5. Climate Change Officer 
No. of positions: Two
Duty Station: Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development and AEPC, Kathmandu. Approximately 30% time for field visits to Programme Districts.

6. Regional Climate Change Coordinator
No. of positions: Six
Duty Station: Regional Climate Change Offices (2 in Kailali, 2 in Jumla, 1 in Dailekh and 1 in Dang). The physical location of a PRO may be at the District Energy, Environment and Environment (DEECC) Section of one otfthe Programme Districts
