Mercy Corps is an international, non-governmental humanitarian relief and development agency that exists to alleviating suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities. Mercy Corps works in 41 countries, and has been present in Nepal since 2005. Mercy Corps Nepal currently works in the sectors of economic and food security, climate, natural resource and disaster risk management, and youth engagement.
Samarth is a five year DFID funded programme that aims to reduce poverty in Nepal. Following the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach, the programme focuses on rural market development, particularly in agricultural sub-sectors which have potential for delivering pro- poor growth. Mercy Corps Nepal, as part of the Samarth programme, will work to catalyse systemic changes in the ginger sub-sector that will lead to improved market access and growth opportunities for smallholder farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs.
Mercy Corps in partnership with Adam Smith International invites applications for following two positions for the Samarth programme to be implemented primarily in Palpa, Makwanpur and Ilam districts. The positions are Kathmandu based but will require frequent visits to field sites.

Project Officer: Preferred Qualification & Experiences – Minimum Bachelors or equivalent in Business Administration or Science/Agriculture with at least three years of work experience in related field. Experience of working in market/economic development related programmes and projects in the agriculture sector and directly engaging or working with private sector partners is highly preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Nepali required, including report development, writing and editing.
Results Chain Officer: Preferred Qualification & Experiences – Minimum Bachelors degree in Development Studies, Business Administration or Science/Agriculture with at least three years of work experience in related fields. Experience of working in design and/or implementing M&E processes in any market/economic development related programmes and projects in the agriculture or off farm sector and directly engaging or working with private sector partners is highly preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Nepali required, including report development, writing and editing.
