Strengthening the Capacity of Communities for Disaster Risk Reduction through Early Warning in Nepal (SCORE) is a project that supports communities to reduce their vulnerability to risk generally and to flood and landslide specifically, while improving their overall level of awareness of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). It has a particular emphasis on the establishment of early warning systems and the use of low cost/ bio-engineering approaches to disaster mitigation.

Early Warning System (EWS) Project Assistant – SCORE

based with regular travel to project sites and the District Department of
Hydrology and Meteorology office).
Deadline to apply: May 06, 2012
• Some knowledge of hydrology and meteorology, geology/geography or the natural sciences
• Confident with data analysis and use of Excel spreadsheets
• Good English language skills (written and spoken)
• Able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision
• Willing to work at times during anti-social hours and in difficult climatic conditions (monsoon)
• Experience or understanding of an NGO working environment.
• Motorcycle license
