The HITT programme, aims to contribute to sustainable, scalable, pro-poor economic growth in 4 Sub-Saharan countries (Benin, Mali, Ghana and Mozambique) and 3 countries in Asia (Cambodia, Nepal and Vietnam) through the development and implementation of an integrated, market-driven tourism TVET system targeting the informal economy. More specifically, the HITT programme aims to expand access for disadvantaged groups (in particular women, youth, unskilled and semi-skilled) to practical and market-oriented vocational training and facilitate direct links with the tourism industry to maximise opportunities for production, income and employment for participants.

SNV Nepal requires professional and experienced Nepali citizen for the following position:

Educational Qualification:
Bachelor degree in any of the following fields: Economics, Tourism/Hospitality Management, or Development Studies;

Job Specifications:
Excellent command of English (written and verbal); and
Proficiency in word processing, spread sheets and database management;

Competencies:
Effective networking and communication skills, seizing opportunities to build strategic alliances relevant to the HITT programme;
Previous experience working with tourism/hospitality sector and experience in providing logistic support for vocational trainings will be an advantage;
Proven experience and ability to communicate and work with senior private sector, government representatives and maintain strong working relationships;
Proven experience in organising training and workshops;
Knowledge and understanding of the following areas:
the tourism and hospitality sector/workforce in Nepal
the informal workforce in Nepal
Any related work experiences to these areas will be a strong advantage.
Proven ability to demonstrate openness to change and stimulates an environment that fosters innovation and innovative thinking;
Excellent written and spoken English skills;
Ability to contribute to and comfortably work in a multidisciplinary setting;
Flexibility for travelling to remote areas; and
Competent to work independently under strict deadlines and deliver quality services.

Job Description:
Assignment Objectives:
The primary objective of the position is to support the HITT programme with the coordination, execution and monitoring of activities that are planned under the Implementation of hospitality related activities of HITT programme.
In particular, the junior consultant will focus on the following general areas of activity:

Support the implementation of 390 hrs course for Assistant cook, Waiter and Room Attendant with EFS model;
Support the implementation of Service Excellence and Hygiene training with Fast Food Association of Nepal (Fast Fan); and
Support in communication with partners and other stakeholders with whom the programme is collaborating for implementing trainings for hospitality occupations
The junior consultant will be positioned under the HITT Programme Coordinator and will work in close collaboration with our partner organisations Fast Food Association of Nepal (Fast Fan) and Employment Fund Secretariat (EFS) as well as well as other stakeholders.

Detailed Description of Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Support the implementation of 390 hrs course for Assistant cook, Waiter and Room Attendant with EFS model

Support to coordinate organisation of training of trainers (ToT);
Support in preparation of TNA (training need analysis) of the beneficiaries of the above mentioned hospitality occupations;
Support the registration of beneficiaries for different training programmes;
Enter data into the HITT database including trainee registration, post-training evaluation, trainee follow up and employer survey forms;
Support in drafting meeting minutes for circulation to all program partners and stakeholders; and
Provide inputs of activity reports (narrative) following the HITT report format and timeframe;

2. Support the implementation of Service Excellence and Hygiene training with Fast Food Association of Nepal (Fast-Fan)

Support in coordination and communication with partners (member restaurants of Fast-fan) and consultants;
Provide technical inputs throughout development of curricula and training materials for this model;
Support consultant on conducting training;
Data entry into the HITT database including trainee registration, post-training evaluation, trainee follow up and employer survey forms;
Assist in drafting meeting minutes for circulation to all program partners and stakeholders;
Provide inputs of activity reports (narrative) following the HITT report format and timeframe;
Provide effective support to the selection process of appropriate consultants for training curriculum/manual development;
Assist in recruitment of appropriate service providers for training delivery as well as training participants; and
Support to coordinate training of trainers (ToT), as well as training of managers (internships).

3. Support in maintaining interpersonal relationship with partners and other stakeholders

Support in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationship with key private sector representatives (associations and individuals) and advocate for their advice, input and support to the HITT programme; and
Support the coordination and communication with partners, consultants and stakeholders and

4. In addition to these key tasks, the junior consultant may become responsible for additional tasks such as the follows:

Plan, develop and deliver HITT internal and external communications, including the HITT Nepal website;
Support the organisation of a launching event around the formation of the Steering Committee; and
Actively participate in the planning, collection and analysis of data required by the programme.
Time Frame:
The selected candidate is expected to commence the assignment 10 December 2012 and will be working with the programme until 31 March 2013.

Remuneration Package:
The expert shall be remunerated per day worked in the HITT programme activities as per SNV salary scales. The honoraria shall be paid at the end of each month.
