HELVETAS SWISS INTERCOOPERATION NEPAL is a Swiss non-governmental organization actively contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of poor and disadvantaged people in Nepal. HELVETAS has been working in Nepal for more than 50 years. Currently, it runs more than fifteen projects in five working areas: Water and Infrastructure, Rural Economy, Environment and Climate, Education and Skills Development, and Governance and Peace.
On behalf of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Trail Bridge Support Unit (TBSU)/HELVETAS provides technical assistance to the Government of Nepal for implementation of trail bridge program under Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp). TBSU/HELVETAS invites applications from Nepali citizen for the following position:
POSITION: CAPACITY BUILDING COORDINATOR
DUTY STATION: Coordination Unit, Pulchok
QUALIFICATION: Minimum Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with Master in Business Administration or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years in related field obtained after Master degree

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support to Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Agricultural Roads (DoLIDAR) to assess the training need of Local Bridge Section (LBS) and DDC/DTOs to implement TB program.
- Make training need assessment of NGO, Consultant, Fabricators and Contractors.
- Support to develop, revise and upgrade the training materials.
- Support DoLIDAR to excel capacity building measures and activities for LBS and DDC/DTOs personnel.
- Assess the capacity of Educational Institutes (EIs) for conducting capacity building training courses.
- Organize courses on thematic and social concerns and relevant topics for DDC/DTOs and NGO personnel.
- Evaluate and negotiate on the training proposal with EIs and others measures.
- Evaluate the training activities of EIs and suggest for necessary improvement.
- Support LBS/DoLIDAR to develop its monitoring capacity of the TB program from a national prospective.
- Maintain detail records of trained staff and those requiring training to be capacitated of DDC/DTOs, NGOs, Consultants, and pvt. sector agents.
- Make tracer study of Bridge Craft Persons.
- Assist for preparing YPO, Annual report and other document as deemed necessary.
- Upgrade in house capacity of TBSU by assessing and conducting necessary training.
- Education or Social sciences, or Master degree in Civil Engineering.
COMPETENCIES:
- Good understanding of Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) and rural infrastructure development issues in Nepal.
- Experience and good knowledge on project cycle management, planning, monitoring and evaluation.
- Good understanding of training needs assessment, curriculum development and training monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability on coordination and networking with government institution, NGO and educational institutes.
- Sensitive to poverty, cultural diversity,gender & social inclusion.
- Capable of working with multi-cultural team.
- Knowledge on conflict sensitive program management.
- Very good documentation and reporting skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Proficiency in using MS application software and electronic communication.
DURATION: Till the end of June 2014 with possibility of extension
