Job Vacnacy - Practical Action (an International NGO)

Practical Action is an International NGO, working in South Asia, Southern and Eastern Africa and Latin America with its Head Office in the UK. It aims to reduce poverty in developing countries - by introducing appropriate technologies for the communities, demonstrating results, sharing knowledge, building capacity to replicate and influencing others for scaling up.

Practical Action in Nepal is working primarily in four programme areas - Energy; Agriculture, Markets and Food Security; Urban Waste, Water and Sanitation; and Disaster Risk Reduction. Practical Action seeks to recruit a Head of Programme (HoP) to manage its Energy Programme based in the Country Office, Kathmandu in Nepal. Reporting to the Country Director, the incumbent will lead the development and implementation of Practical Action's "Access to Sustainable Energy Programme" in-country and South Asia region.

I worked with a Non-Governmental National Organization, Helen Keller Int’l as a Technical Officer, CARE- IFSP as Manager Partner, CARE- ANR sector as Manager partner and MACH Project as a community development officer in its Natural Resource Management Programs from I998 to December 2006. Now I’m working as RE-Adviser- Biogas manure Programme NDBMP in Bangladesh under as employee of SNV - Netherlands .

    During the carrier my job I have accomplished different tasks regarding Planning, Budgeting, and Implementing, Monitoring, Ecological Agriculture Programs and have gained expertise in the relevant sectors. I worked with Coastal and Wetland Biodiversity Management Project –BGD/99/G-31 from February 2007 to June 2011 as a National Project Professional Personnel (NPPP) implemented by the Department of Environment (DoE) under Joint collaboration and funding of UNDP and Global Environment Facility (GEF).
    The overall responsibility was to manage and conserve biodiversity of these areas through community based interventions. The major task performed by me was: Motivation and Mobilization of community for using natural resources in a sustainable way; Agricultural Technology Extension for Introduction of Sustainable Farming System, Crop diversification and activities regarding plant biodiversity conservation; Monitoring and providing Training and technical advice to the staffs of Partner NGO’s. As additional task, I also worked as a Focal Person for this Project in the site office at Teknaf.

    Besides, other major tasks performed by me include: collaboration with partner NGO’s and other relevant organizations for successful implementation of the project; Liaison with different stakeholders; Reporting and making further Recommendations to the Project authority for better implementation of the activities. In view of the above experience, I have gained so far makes me confident that I will be able to perform my duties and responsibilities if awarded with honesty, integrity and sincere devotion

  3. Renewable Energy Advisor –Bio manure Expert

    Aminul Haq joined SNV in April, 2012 as Renewable Energy Adviser cum Bio manure-Expert. His schooling was in Agriculture with a Masters in Sustainable Development, Agricultural Extension and research demonstration.
    Aminul Haq started his career in ASSP Project (Agricultural support service project) under the Post Flood Rehabilitation Projects as Technical Officer (Horticulture) at Helen Keller International (HKL) with partnership Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) for both government agencies and NGOs. He has extensive experience in Community based Natural Resources Planning and Management. He also worked as a Consultant of Coastal and Wet land Biodiversity Management Project, a collaborative effort by UNDP and Govt. Department of Environment (DoE), supported by GEF.
    He is proud to consider himself as one of the first generation professionals in the conservation Management and Agricultural Natural Resources (ANR) sectors.
    With his experience in Coastal and Wet land Biodiversity Management Project ( CWBMP ) and Agricultural Natural Resources (ANR ) sectors , from the grass root to the policy label, Aminul now would like to contribute to strategic direction of the renewable Energy sectors in order to further build and strengthen the impact of SNV’s renewable energy portfolio in Asia.
